Christmas is right around the corner

Okay! I love this! We have a large family and by the time we get everyone together to draw names it’s waaaay to close to the Big Holiday! Don’t get me wrong, we love to be able to draw names out of the proverbial hat but like I said, getting 14 people together is a huge feat. So we looked around for alternatives and low and behold, see what we found?!?!?! www.drawnames.com Incredible! Not only is it a virtual name draw but you can set a $$$$ limit and set limits so that spouses can’t draw spouses. PLUS you can create a wish list! This is one of my favorite finds of the year! Our family lives in the same area, 1 – 2 hours in all directions but wouldn’t this be perfect if you wanted to draw names with loved ones across country!!! L-O-V-E it!!!!!!!

Not Onesies™ They are now “Bodysuits”

If you are looking for Onesies™ (which is a trademarked name) and you don’t want Gerber Onesies™, you will now need to search by brand name such as Sara Kety for instance or bodysuit because it has come to The Silver Spoon Children’s Boutique’s attention that we have been innocently using a trademarked name.

Apparently Onesie™ is owned by none other than Gerber Products and they are none too pleased when small fry like The Silver Spoon Children’s Boutique uses their trademarked Onesie™ word to describe what has always been a Onesie™ that is not a Gerber Onesie™.

Unfortunately for us, we have been targeted and told to cease and desist using the Onesie™ word to describe our incredible selection of “bodysuits”. So we are forced to find other words besides Onesie™ to describe our t-shirts with snaps at the crotch.

With all that said here is a sampling of our former Onesies™ that are now Bodysuits.

We still and will always carry a large and diverse line of what we used to describe as Onesies™ and we will call them bodysuits.

Polenta

Today I love polenta! I’m not even Italian but I love polenta! I love the buttery flavor and the interesting texture. The texture is a cross between pulverized oatmeal and mashed potatoes. Mmmmm, doesn’t that sound yummy? The beauty of polenta is that it goes with everything. I have served it with shrimp and chicken and fish and I have just eaten it! And the color! Golden. Just golden. Like sunshine. You can make polenta Mexican, spice it up with cheese and chili powder, you can make it italian with basil and garlic and just a blend of Italian spices, and you can even make it German if you want, just throw a little bratwurst in there! You can add anything to it, spices, garlic, but my favorite is freshly grated parmesan cheese . . . lots of it! And it’s almost foolproof to make, 4 cups of liquid (my favorite is just chicken broth), water, chicken broth, etc. You bring the liquid to a boil and (this is very important) add 1 cup of polenta steadily and slowly, whisking the entire time so you don’t get any lumps. While the polenta is cooking I like to add a little butter and a little milk. It makes it a little creamier. Polenta takes about 30 minutes to cook and you need to stir it a lot to keep it from sticking. When your polenta reaches the in between pulverized oatmeal and mashed potatoes, remove it from the heat and stir in cheese, about a cup. If you’re going to add spices or garlic, add them while the polenta is cooking. Let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes and it will thicken just a little more. Then . . . eat it!!!

The dog days of summer are gone and now we are looking forward (?) to the Autumn cool down. Personally, I could live in a climate that was year ’round summer, like Hawaii.
